Translation of Inscription:
Michiel Coxie of Mechelen, painter
Coxie was an illustrious painter, whose fatherland was Mechelen, which was that of learned artists.1 He painted for a great price. For he was believed to be Zeuxis,2 [and] was dear to the rich and to princely men.

- If this is obscure, one could translate “which was [the fatherland] of learned artists”.
