I am interested in the ways fashion is represented in photography, illustration and film – reaching beyond traditional sources to consider documentary imagery, and relating fashion media to visual culture more generally.

I’ve written extensively on 20th and 21st century fashion, most recently the introductory essay for Avedon Advertising (Abrams, 2019). And I am currently working on a new book for Bloomsbury – Documenting Fashion: Dress & Visual Culture in Interwar America.
