Montagne Sainte-Victoire was displayed in partnership with The Herbert between September 2018 and January 2019. The exhibition was an opportunity to share one of the masterpieces of The Courtauld’s collection with communities in Coventry.
Montagne Sainte-Victoire with Large Pine is one of Cézanne’s most celebrated paintings and is part of a collection of work that he produced of the mountain in southern France. The painting was complemented in this exhibition by some of The Herbert’s finest landscape works including Ebbw Vale by LS Lowry; The Stackyard by Paul Nash; Landscape with Tank by Prunella Clough and Evening Cornwall by David Bomberg.
