{"id":635,"date":"2019-06-14T15:30:43","date_gmt":"2019-06-14T14:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.courtauld.ac.uk\/macurating\/?p=635"},"modified":"2026-09-04T13:10:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:10:23","slug":"exhibition-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.courtauld.ac.uk\/macurating\/2019\/06\/14\/exhibition-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibition Opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Wow \u2013 what a truly great evening celebrating the opening of the exhibition with friends, family, and other (special) guests on Friday night.<\/h3>\n<p>We were so glad that Deborah Swallow, Appau Jnr Boakye-<br \/>\nYiadom and Helen Cammock \u2013 and other special guests \u2013 could join us to inaugurate the exhibition,<br \/>\ngiving us also a chance to discuss with them the exhibition more generally. The last few weeks<br \/>\nleading up to Friday evening \u2013 between installing, finalising texts, advertising the event, and<br \/>\npreparing to welcome our visitors \u2013 were certainly exciting for us, but also hard work! However, it<br \/>\nwas amazing to see everything come together on Thursday and see it ready for the public on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>We discussed the experience and gave tours to our guests, showing everyone how proud we were of<br \/>\nthe final product. People were engaging with the works on display, eager to discuss them amongst<br \/>\nthemselves and with us. The speeches given by Anne and Capucine on behalf of the group perfectly<br \/>\nsummarised our individual experience co-curating the show with 10 other people. It was a moment<br \/>\nto look back and reflect on how challenging developing and bringing this project together was, but<br \/>\nalso how much we had learnt during the last 5 months as a group. It was also a moment to<br \/>\nacknowledge and thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of support we received from<br \/>\ncollaborators \u2013 the exhibition has also been made possible with their guidance and help throughout.<br \/>\nThe incredibly positive feedback we received both at the opening and in the days following it, both<br \/>\nfrom collaborators and friends or family, made us even more proud of what we have presented to<br \/>\nthe public.
